The Department's authorities:

- Head of the Department - appointed by the Senate for the period of five years - at present this position is held by Mrs Maria Banach, M.A.
- Deputy Head of the Department - at present this position is held by Mrs Marta Krzanowska, M.A.
- Department Council - which consists of all permanently employed teachers and is presided over by Head of the Department.

The Department staff, trying hard to provide a student-friendly, comprehensive process of education and linguistic development, always focus their attention on individual students, their problems, questions, ambitions and are always ready to assist them. Such an individual approach of a teacher to a student fosters continuous development and self-improvement.

The Department is in contact with the representatives of the leading educational publishing houses (such as Pearson Longman, Oxford University Press, Macmillan) who help teachers with the selection of teaching materials, provide methodological advice and present the latest textbooks and materials available on the market. Such cooperation helps the teachers to enrich their teaching process and be in touch with all the publishing novelties. Teachers also participate in manifold workshops, seminars and conferences, both in Poland and abroad, they get educational awards and grants but what is the most important they achieve high scores in students' appraisal forms.

The language curriculum is built with the use of the state of the art teaching methods and the use of the latest textbooks and teaching materials, especially authentic linguistic materials available on the Internet. During classes language teachers use diversified teaching aids such as CD players, DVD players, laptops and multimedia projectors.

The Department staff also assist students willing to study abroad, teachers run interviews and tests for candidates, provide document completion guidance and references for students. They also offers translation services to all units and departments of the university, prepare promotional materials in foreign languages and co-organize visits of overseas students and lecturers at PAT.

At the present moment the Department authorities are aiming at establishing TELC Examination Centre at PAT, which will enable students to take international language exams and receive widely recognized certificates.
