Dear Students,

We are happy to inform you of establishing the University of the Third Age at the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Cracow. The first groups of the academic year of 2011/2012 successfully completed their studies on 20th June 2013, the day of the graduation ceremony.

We encourage to enrol all senior citizens (50+) who are willing to deepen their knowledge of philosophy, theology, history and social sciences.

We do hope that our educational and cultural offer will help you in your further development, both academic and religious. It is never late for lifelong learning. History tells us about numbers of famous people who were extremely creative at their old ages. Amongst them there is Michelangelo who worked on the construction of St. Peter’s Basilica at the age of 82, Giuseppe Verdi who composed comic opera Falstaff at the age of 80 or Alfred North Whitehead, a British mathematician who took interest in philosophy after turning 60.

You can be creative when you are retired. The living proofs are, mushrooming and popular nowadays, universities of the third age in Poland. As a young University of the Third Age at the Pontifical University of John Paul II we are glad to join all other universities which preceded us in following this noble educational project aimed at senior learners.
